L.L. Bean | Signature Cashmere Poncho | $179
On any given day I could be a walking L.L. Bean advertisement. From October-April I live in Bean Boots and the Scotch Plaid Flannel Shirt. That said, I don’t typically associate fashion and style with L.L Bean. Form and function? Absolutely. Comfort and ease? You bet. Durability and quality? Yes and yes. But Fashion? I don’t know who they’ve added to the women’s design team, but that person hit their fall/winter line out of the park. I am moving past simply stocking up on staples and am legitimately drooling over their offerings. This sweater included!
As we mentioned in our Signature Cashmere V-neck Tunic sweater review, L.L. Bean sources their cashmere from Inner Mongolia, and they use a two ply fiber. The resulting sweater has a soft, cozy, and high-quality feel with a light weight (this one is definitely lighter than the v-neck tunic sweater, though the sleeves are longer!) Unlike the v-neck tunic sweater, I do not think I struggled with this being too long, I think sizing down was the right move.
I purchased this in a size xsmall/small, and the fit was still very generous. If you are an extra petite person, this may run too large for you. However, if you are tall or a size 6 or greater, I think the sizing will be just fine. I couldn’t help thinking this would be the most luxurious maternity splurge. I can see pregnant me wearing this all day every day for ten months straight!
You can absolutely style it, as we did, with jeans and booties, but the possibilities are really endless. It would also look great with a crisp collared shirt and tall boots (or booties!), and a pencil skirt with a low heel.
