Wedding and shower season is upon us! With my calendar quickly filling up, I’ve been on the hunt for the *perfect* dress that can be dressed up and appropriate for an evening wedding while also able to pull double duty and shine during a day event such as a baby shower or graduation. I’ve been seeking a versatile combination of fashionable, flattering, and formal, but not fussy. The Sierra Textured Dress by Boden has definitely caught my eye!
It’s no secret that I adore Boden and practically live on their website. I love the petite options, appreciate the quality, and really enjoy the cut and the fit of Boden’s playful take on classic pieces. They’re flirty, festive, fun, and beg to be worn. The first thing that drew me to the Sierra Textured dress was the print. I found the color of the Greek Blue captivating, and I love the unique and feminine white primroses dotted across this garment. The fabric has a slub texture (meaning the woven threads vary in thickness) and there is a very slight sheen. I have been working out, and am currently in between a size six and eight, rather than a straight eight as I have been in previous posts. I was feeling optimistic and ordered the 6 petite. While it zips and is not unflattering, I think the 8 petite would have been a smarter choice from a comfort and freedom of movement standpoint. The design features a fitted waist (which in the petite hits me perfectly at my natural waist), a full skirt, sharp pleats, and side pockets. I love that the short sleeves allow me to wear whatever bra happens to be clean, rather than forcing me to fiddle with a strapless bra or get creative with safety pins. Overall, I found this dress to be flattering, feminine and it offers effortless sophistication. It didn’t even sit in my online shopping cart for a day. I bought it immediately.

We chose to style this piece two ways to demonstrate the versatility of the dress and also the power of accessories. For our casual day look we paired the dress with a simple white sandal from Cole Haan, hair down, and simple earrings. This no fuss look will easily be appropriate for graduations, showers, or a date night.
For the evening look we upped our game (and my hair). We chose black accessories with one pop of color for contrast; a dressy but playful tassel earring, chunky bangle, black pumps and colorful shawl to keep you cozy on cooler summer nights. As event season ramps up, what do you find yourself reaching for or lusting after?
